America was attacked, it's the right war.

Letter to the editor for Sunday April 15,07. ( From link above it is second on the left side of page). This letter was in reply to the question posed by the Wis. ST Journal: "When your child goes off to fight the wrong war " by Steven Wright. In my opinion, the newsman in CA. Mr. Wright, and his "wrong" war is a guy who puts his politics above his country and even his own son, with this article about his son who enlisted in the Army and is going off to the 'wrong' war. Interestingly enough, on the week following the headline was changed to "When your child is sent to war" Come on WSJ play fair, be consistent-words have meaning- you would think a Newspaper would be aware of that! Here is my letter: America was attacked, so it's the right war Would the mission be supported if the fighting was here? Every parent seeing their child going off to war at some time thinks, "This is the wrong war!" Sunday Forum columnist Steven Wright, however, still does not get it, and his son, who joined the Army and is going off to war, does. Over 3,000 innocent civilians were murdered on our soil in one day. We witness threats and real bombings worldwide by fanatic Jihadists. Plans to convert, conquer or kill all infidels -- non-Muslims -- are broadcast or telecast around the world. There are videotaped beheadings and sniper shootings of American soldiers, car bombings, women and children with bombs strapped to them vaporizing themselves and innocent bystanders in civilized Western countries. Yet he and most Americans still don't get it. Have the people who've been trying -- often successfully -- to kill America, the "Great Satan," changed their minds since Sept. 11? When the unhinged radical Muslims again attack America in America, will that be the "right" war? -- Bill Richardson, Madison
