Response to Bill Richardson policy on illegal immigration

Part of my response will be the “Devil advocate” position and part will be my from my own conviction

Part 1 – Imagine what the news will look like when they film the dead body of women and children and their dad at the fence on our boarder. “This is the result of Bill Richardson evil Republican party. Do you see how they care about the poorest of the poor.”?

We are the richest nation in the world the leader of freedom. I recall some bible story of the beggar out side the gate of a rich mans house. How does that go?

Part 2 – This is the part about “rehabbing” (your words not mine) the Mexican government. It is the only way to stem the tide of illegal. The 16 billion is not your money it there’s. They can do with it what they want. The 16 billion only goes to spur the economy in Mexico so their wont be as many illegal coming over. That would be a good thing. They earned that money by doing work, so something got done. We benefited. Back to rehabbing the Mexican economy, if their economy were stronger, society free, they would still send back the 16 billion but not as many people would be coming over the boarder. I don’t know if that’s a good thing because our with out that labor our economy would not benefit. Still the vibrant Mexican economy would benefit us. The mover and the shaker you refer to are the poorest of the poor. The most desperate people of Mexico.

Part 3 – Now you want businesses to be able to detect what a fake I D is and what is not. Not only are Business the tax collectors of our land the health care providers of our land but also now you want them to be the police officers of our land. I think you ask a lot.

Part 4 – Do recall when the last time governments rounded up a group, race, and class of people? How did it work out? I think the libs would have a field day with this proposal. A Mexican round up. I could see the news show now. Ms Rodrigez has a modest home, worked in a factory for 20 years put five kids through college all devote Catholics. The kids run a grocery store in the poor neighbor hood where they live and do volunteer work. Ect, ect….

I think part of your motivation is you think there is a populous movement to do these things. I don’t agree with you that there is. You are looking to close and a small group of people screaming the loudest. A mistake.

Of course lets try to prevent felons from entering the country. Sending them back would require negotiation with the government. Remember we are not like the Mexican government. Are we?

“ If you are born here you are a citizen” It seems to be you want selectively apply this rule to Mexicans. Can you explain how this will work? It seems like you are suggesting taking women and their babies and dumping them just across the boarder. Do you want to say that?

Our country and our economy is the richest and most robust in the entire history of the world. It is because we are a free and humane society. We will need to make some adjustments SSI and other things, but to make such drastic steps against the poorest people of our society (there here) seems wrong headed. I find if the solutions are so easy then they are probably not the best way to go. It’s the hard and difficult way that we need to follow. Keeping in mind human suffering, working with Mexican government on corruption and their economy, and also making legal immigration more easy and more wide open so more not less can come legally to this country.
